No way, it has to be a really good parody. Driving on glass filled with sophisticated electronics instead of cheap as fuck asphalt sold with 2edgy4u marketing.

This was my favorite part.

"For those in the North, the panels use energy they collect to power elements to keep the surface temperature from freezing."

He then puts a heating element ON TOP OF the solar panel so it can't receive sunlight. In the north, where there is very little or no sunlight when it's cold, it will bleed heat off of an uncontained surface. If somehow you got enough energy to heat it, you would be driving on a wet, glass road haha.

No they are real, and they can withstand commercial truck weight. Look them up. They're fucking amazing.

Edit: That video is just some douchbag doing a catchy youtube video on them for his "What's really neat-o in my opinion" channel.

Politicians definitely are not scientists, and are never trustworthy, but it gives the product legitimacy:

Edit: Can't get the fucking video embedded..

And yeah, they have some problems, sure, but so did the first computer. Doesn't mean in 10 years they won't be a viable technology.

To be honest I get a million red flags when I look at that idea seriously. In terms of cost (thick glass filled with sophisticated electronics vs asphalt), visibility (LED's in the daytime at an angle), traction (glass when wet), durability (drive 10 million cars over it and put their brakes on), and energy production (solar energy dubious in most of the country, and that's before you submerge the panel under thick glass). If it were me I think I'd just put solar panels on roofs or adjacent to roads. I don't want to derail the thread though.

You seem to have forgotten we are going to be driving hover cars by the time they are implemented.

To all you virgins, thanks for nothing.
