Hexen]To be honest I get a million red flags when I look at that idea seriously. In terms of cost (thick glass filled with sophisticated electronics vs asphalt), visibility (LED's in the daytime at an angle), traction (glass when wet), durability (drive 10 million cars over it and put their brakes on), and energy production (solar energy dubious in most of the country, and that's before you submerge the panel under thick glass). If it were me I think I'd just put solar panels on roofs or adjacent to roads. I don't want to derail the thread though.
You seem to have forgotten we are going to be driving hover cars by the time they are implemented.
