I don't get the point of .50 cal sidearms after watching that vid. A .45 is plenty big enough to kill any human being with far less recoil. And anything large enough to need a bullet that big to die should be shot with a rifle anyway. In addition, the bullets are WAY more expensive. You'd spend enough in ammo just getting proficient with the gun to buy the gun a second time. And forget being accurate popping off multiple shots in a row with a recoil like that. Maybe a good gun for someone the size of the Mountain. But for a human of average size and strength, that's way too much gun.

Edit: .35 cents per round for .45 acp. 1 to 2 bucks per round for .50 ae.

My dad has a titanium .44 magnum. So light it feels like a toy. The recoil is nasty because the gun is so light. It literally stings your hand. Not a fun gun to shoot. Not something he carries. Just something he bought for cool factor I guess.

So much fire comes out of the end of it that it looks like a flame thrower.

Bullets also quite expensive. Over a dollar a shot.

Oh for sure, I plan too. The range by my house has .50 rifle I wanna shoot too. Thing sounds like a thunder clap when it shoots.

Shot a bunch of .454 Casull's. With a full load the recoil is pretty heavy, but with a half load anybody can shoot it. They're popular where I'm from for protection against bears, but I'm skeptical that they would actually kill one unless it was a particularly good shot. The annoying part is how fucking noisy they are.

My dad got the titanium .44 magnum instead of the .454 Casull. I never have fired one of them but I hear it's basically an elephant gun.

Yea a buddy of mine bought the Smith & Wesson 629 Backpacker. It's a snub nose .44 designed to be small because every pound matters when you're packing long distances. He practiced at the range with some high grain loads that you'd want for bear defense. He said the same thing as Zelik said about the .50, after emptying a full cylinder, he didn't want to shoot it again. They also make another version of the backpacker that shoots .500 S&W's. It's pretty damn big though.
